I found in my research that a cracked screen will prevent the computer from starting up as a safety feature, to prevent further damage. Thanks for replying.I'll give it a shot right now, when finished, will share the results. It is an HP Pavilion dv9000 series (dv9308nr to be precise). 3 years old. Only problem I've ever had was a bad stick of RAM a year or so ago which was replaced.
