Using the site is easy and fun. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2538490/desktop-biohd-error.html I shut it down again to test things and I got the black screen again. No Bootable Drives Detected Sorry for not putting this in my earlier post as I was given this pc a couple of weeks ago and have only just had a chance to look at it. I restarted the computer and pushed ESC to get into boot options and selected my hard drive and Windows 7 started right up.

While surfing the internet normally, the computer froze and started a "diagnostic tools" test. http://batteryuniveristy.com/hp-error/hp-error-code-biohd-8-smart-test.php While surfing the internet normally, the computer froze and started a "diagnostic tools" test. The Quad CPU test passed, Memory passed, and then it started testing drive: ST3750528AS (9VP29G2Y) which passed, hp Newer Than: Search this thread only Search this forum only Display results as threads Useful Searches Recent Posts More... Hi,My computer suddenly went blue and told me it had shut down to avoid a failure.

originally when it was given to me there was a cd in the drive but this has been removed. I replaced the hard drive and still am getting the same error. You have already tried letting it cool down by unplugging it and it is still not recognized. http://batteryuniveristy.com/hp-error/hp-error-code-biohd-5.php I'm sorry, even if you use the recovery disk, it won't work as with the error "Reboot and Select proper Boot device", it means the hard disk drive is damaged.

Just open the machine and give the (usually red) SATA cables a good push to make sure they are firmly seated. just a bit more information. I cant have a go with the seatools repair as the drive is not detected. I will be happy to continue further and do everything I can to provide you with the service you seek. I did a system check and it gave me a "Boot Test Failed - Error Code BIOHD3 No active partition.

I hit "Enter:Accept" The screen went black and "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER _" popped up again. Any other suggestions? Moved the new response to its own topic. The only way to solve the problem is by replacing the hard drive.

I've never had a problem with this desktop, and I can't remember it ever freezing up on me or shutting down randomly. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Product: HPOperating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)edit: Restarting the computer and going to the desktop eventually freezes and takes me bak to the "reboot and select proper boot device...." message.
